Days and nights in the New York lives of two African-American jazz musicians and their sister provoke tensions – racial, professional and familial. The edgy mood as the trio navigate their way through seedy dives, pretentious parties, sexual encounters and so forth is enhanced by the moody, bluesy jazz of Charles Mingus and saxophonist Shafi Hadi.

Also available on BFI Player.

The screening on Wednesday 7 February features an intro by Geoff Andrew, Programmer-at-large.
