Sight and Sound presents a panel discussion and eye-popping selection of clips as it considers how boundaries have changed.

Which films made in the last 30 years would’ve become part of the programming canon of the world’s wildest cinema, had the Scala not closed down in 1993? Illustrated with an eye-popping selection of clips from films by Julia Ducournau, Jonathan Glazer, Emiliano Rocha Minter, Ari Aster, Tom Six, Sebastián Silva, Michael Winterbottom, Park Chan Wook and Guy Maddin, our panel discussion will examine how critical and commercial boundaries have changed, with explicit and extreme content entering the mainstream thanks to the likes of Mary Harron, Gaspar Noé, Quentin Tarantino, Prano Bailey-Bond and more.

The discussion will include clips containing distressing scenes and images of explicit sex.
