Sammy and Rosie Get Laid

+ Q&A with actors Claire Bloom and Roland Gift

Hanif Kureishi and Stephen Frears deliver a story about a bored couple ‘slumming it’ with lower-class lovers in 80s Britain.

Unfortunately, Frances Barber can no longer attend the Q&A due to work commitments but we’re delighted to confirm that Roland Gift will now take part.

Despite their bourgeois background, married couple Sammy and Rosie deal with relationship fatigue by indulging in an open relationship and by befriending extreme and poorer sections of society. Writer Hanif Kureishi and director Stephen Frears, fresh from their success with My Beautiful Laundrette, joined forces again to make a film that’s as much about Thatcher’s London as it is about Britain – and it’s a damning indictment that perhaps proved too much for its original audience 30 years ago, but is ripe for re-discovery.
