Theodoros Bafaloukos’ combination of drama and documentary begins with drummer Leroy ‘Horsemouth’ Wallace buying a motorbike so that he can distribute records to sound systems. But the real joy of this film lies in its roll call of reggae stars (Burning Spear, Gregory Isaacs, Big Youth …). Playing themselves in their own environs, these musicians made Rockers one of the most fascinating portraits of Jamaican roots reggae at its apex.
