Reel Victorians: a History event for KS2
Tue 6 Feb 2018 10:30 – 15:00
NFT1, BFI Southbank
This event is intended for teachers and students only.
Using material from the BFI National Archive and clips from feature films this event invites pupils to explore the Victorian era through moving image. We will celebrate the development of film in this period and through interactive activities, investigate the rapid development of society; looking at examples of dress, transport, popular culture and inventions. Unique footage will open a window on Queen Victoria’s home life and through films such as The Young Victoria and Oliver Twist we will compare the lived experience of monarchy and the lower class. The event concludes with a screening of The Railway Children (1970).
Suitable for KS2 (Years 5&6) History and Gifted & Talented pupils
£6 per pupil; £1 per adult accompanying every 5 pupils; for any additional adult the pupil rate applies. £40 for teachers attending without pupils.
Please note that schools should provide their own packed lunches.
