Marleen Gorris’ first film as director, a classic of feminist cinema, seems bolder than ever. Three Dutch women who have never met commit a deadly crime in full view. They have been treated like Stepford Wives in their homes and work, and so they kill almost robotically. The music is ’80s John Carpenter-style, the imagery is simple, but the attitude is remarkable.
