This silent classic, made only 15 years after Gaston Leroux’s novel was published, features Lon Chaney as the ‘Phantom’ of the Paris Opera House, who becomes fixated on the beautiful and vocally talented Christine, understudy to the prima donna of the company. After some ghostly sightings and other scares, Christine comes face to face with him – but is he a man or a monster?
