The Peterville Diamond
+ intro by writer and critic Geoff Brown
A lively crime caper from Walter Forde, with an especially radiant Anne Crawford.
Dir Walter Forde
With Anne Crawford, Donald Stewart, Renee Houston, Oliver Wakefield
This lively crime caper from Walter Forde, one of Britain’s most successful directors of the period, has bags of action, knockabout comedy galore and moves at a sprightly pace with the help of Terence Fisher’s editing. An excellent cast, especially a radiant Anne Crawford as a scheming wife, skilfully navigate the central ‘identical briefcase’ gag, but the show is well and truly stolen by music-hall comedian Oliver Wakefield as the suave jewel thief.
