This lively crime caper from Walter Forde, one of Britain’s most successful directors of the period, has bags of action, knockabout comedy galore and moves at a sprightly pace with the help of Terence Fisher’s editing. An excellent cast, especially a radiant Anne Crawford as a scheming wife, skilfully navigate the central ‘identical briefcase’ gag, but the show is well and truly stolen by music-hall comedian Oliver Wakefield as the suave jewel thief.
