This requiem for Roma life features stunning black-and-white cinematography from renowned DoP Krzysztof Ptak. This impressionistic epic follows Bronisława Wajs, known as Papusza; a rebellious and gifted artist who’s determined, against all odds (and traditions), to develop her voice. In her poetry she recognises the power of words – and faces the complexities of freedom.
Screening is part of 16th Kinoteka Polish Film Festival in London (7-29 March, kinoteka.org.uk).
