A comedy about life among the non-disabled, Outside In saw Dwoskin turn the camera’s gaze upon himself to show the full variety of reactions that his disabled body provoked. ‘I tend to forget that my disability is seen as abnormal by the greater part of society’, he wrote. Composed of vignettes taken from his own life, and shot on location in London, it ranges from documentary to the surreal, touching in particular on the taboo area of disability and sexuality.

Outside In will be introduced by Allan Sutherland, author of the landmark book Disabled We Stand, and co-programmer with Dwoskin of ‘Carry On Cripple’, the first major season of films about disability. Mounted in 1981, it led to BFI Southbank taking measures towards accessibility.
