New Writings: Cinematic Representations of Popular Music
with Neil Fox in conversation with Caroline Catz
An in-depth discussion about the way popular music has been presented on the big screen.
- Total running time 90min
To coincide with the launch of his book Music Films: Documentaries, Concert Films and Other Cinematic Representations of Popular Music (BFI/Bloomsbury), Neil Fox will be in conversation with filmmaker Caroline Catz (Delia Derbyshire: The Myths and Legendary Tapes), whose work is featured in the book. Featuring clips from films surveyed in the book, the discussion will look at music films from the 1950s to the current day, presenting a case for them to be considered a vital cinematic genre in their own right, not just the visual extension of an artist’s audio output.
Tickets £6.50.
