After their mother falls ill, Satsuki and Mei move to a new home in the country. It’s soon clear that the building is populated by house spirits, with wood spirits and other creatures surrounding it. The girls are soon whisked away into a magical adventure where they board a ‘cat bus’ and share a incredible experiences with their new friends. Cited by Akira Kurosawa as one of his favourite Japanese films, Miyazaki’s wonderful fantasy introduced the world to the much-loved Totoro, who became the logo of Studio Ghibli.
