A fascinating, sometimes horrifying, highly personal study of Herzog’s former collaborator, undoubtedly a great actor but also a worryingly volatile, self-obsessed person with whom the director famously had a very fruitful but extremely difficult professional relationship. Archive footage, clips of Kinski’s performances, and reminiscences by Herzog, Claudia Cardinale, Eva Mattes and others who worked with the actor make for an intriguingly rounded portrait.
