Can money really buy happiness? Bette Davis stars as a woman in a loveless marriage.
Dir Vincent Sherman
With Bette Davis, Claude Rains, Walter Abel, Richard Waring
Fanny abandons her many beaus and marries wealthy businessman Job Skeffington in order to get her brother off an embezzling charge. It’s a loveless marriage and she neglects her husband and daughter in favour of a sparkling social life, yet soon she begins to question if money can really buy happiness. Davis was grieving her late husband while making this picture, making her Oscar®-nominated performance all the more remarkable.
