Winner of the Oscar for Best Picture, Moonlight is a tender film exploring the complexities of identity. Loosely adapted by Tarell Alvin McCraney from his play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue, Barry Jenkin’s sensual cinematic rhapsody details the blossoming relationship between two boys, who become young men, growing up in Miami. The outstanding cast includes Janelle Monáe, whose brief scenes invest the film with a tenderness that is heartbreaking.
