Producer Alexander Korda and writer HG Wells continued their collaboration with this inspired comic fantasy, in which Roland Young revels in the role of a draper’s assistant granted the power to perform miraculous acts. His determination to use his powers for good leads to an exploration of class politics, but the madcap situations and inspired effects inject plenty of entertainment into the proceedings.
