Hurt plays Giles De’Ath, a widowed, slightly stuffy novelist who discovers an appetite for low-brow B-movies and becomes infatuated with teen heartthrob Ronnie Bostock (Priestley), going to extreme lengths to engineer a meeting with the young actor. This delightful comedy offers a gentle insight into a man bewildered by the world, with a touching innocence that’s impossible not to be seduced by.

The screening on Monday 29 January features a Q&A with director Richard Kwietniowski.
