Jason Higgs is a civil-rights activist-turned-radical who believes ‘nonviolence is one thing’, but ‘passive dying is another’. Wounded during an armed robbery that was intended to finance the Black struggle, Higgs seeks help from Joanna Shimkus’ white, middle-class liberal, even as the police close in. Poitier is at his most militant in a film that reflects America’s changing racial and political climate.
Contains violence.
