Kathleen Collins’ semi-autobiographical drama centres a professor of philosophy who attempts to balance her shaky marriage to a lothario painter with her new-found desire to appear in front of the camera. Collins’ bold direction offers a rich and frequently hilarious exploration of the artistic temperaments of Black intelligentsia.
