Kathleen Collins’ semi-autobiographical drama centres a professor of philosophy who attempts to balance her shaky marriage to a lothario painter with her new-found desire to appear in front of the camera. Collins’ bold direction offers a rich and frequently hilarious exploration of the artistic temperaments of Black intelligentsia.
New 35mm made with funding from the National Lottery.
The screening of Losing Ground on Saturday 3 May 20:40 NFT2 will include a pre-recorded introduction by Nina Lorez Collins.
