Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival (LIFF)
LIFF offers a showcase of the best of new Indian independent cinema and a rare window into a billion lives.
“Any part of history you choose to deal with... has to be made relevant”
LIFF returns to BFI Southbank for the eighth time, with a line-up of films fresh from the global festival circuit. The season includes the Cannes prize-winning documentary The Cinema Travellers, Berlin award-winner Newton, Toronto premiere Hotel Salvation and Venice’s INTERFILM Award recipient White Sun. There will be panel discussions, talks by leading filmmakers including Ashutosh Gowariker (Jodhaa Akbar), and a 30th anniversary celebration of the pioneering LGBTQ+ Shakti group, featuring the early work of activist filmmaker Pratibha Parmar. Sutherland Trophy winner Adoor Gopalakrishnan previews his latest film Once Again, and there is even a virtual reality experience to transport you to the far reaches of India.
LIFF runs from 22-29 June. For more info visit londonindianfilmfestival.co.uk
