Dr. Tom Brown (Kings College London), the guest editor of a special issue of Quarterly Review of Film and Video entitled ‘Hollywood Film Style and the Production Code’, will be joined by some of the contributors to discuss how studio-era ‘self-regulation’ or self-censorship shaped the form and style of Hollywood movies. Dr. Kathrina Glitre, Dr. Martha Shearer and Dr. Adam Vaughan will discuss screwball comedy, Warner Bros/Busby Berkeley musicals, queer coding in George Cukor films and many other areas.
