Unfortunately, due to work commitments in Australia, Vanessa Redgrave will not be introducing the screening. She sends her deepest apologies.

In conjunction with Refugee Week, we present this restoration of an Oscar award-winning period drama. It’s based on an account by playwright Lillian Hellman of a wealthy childhood friend who turned her back on privilege to follow her ideals and to support victims of the Nazi regime in Germany prior to WWII. The film won prizes for its screenplay and for Redgrave’s and Robards’ fantastic performances.
