Dir Barry Jenkins
With KiKi Layne, Stephan James, Colman Domingo, Brian Tyree Henry
An Entertainment One release
In 1980s Harlem, Tish (Layne) and Fonny’s (James) childhood friendship develops into an intoxicating and blissful love. But life is not so easy for a young black couple. When Fonny is falsely accused of rape, and the judicial system won’t acknowledge the possibility of his innocence, Tish and his family try desperately to exonerate him. In his follow-up to the Oscar®-winning Moonlight, Jenkins brings us a beautiful, graceful, and emotionally rich adaptation of a James Baldwin novel about black lives in America, letting his images interact with the poetry of Baldwin’s language.
