In 1962 a young woman about to become a Catholic nun is told by her aunt (her only living relative – a hedonistic judge and formerly a member of the anti-Nazi Communist resistance) that her parents were in fact Jewish. The journey they take together around Poland, moodily shot in crisp Academy-ratio monochrome, is also a spiritual odyssey for each woman.
Bassam & Riz: A gorgeous visual journey that leads us unapologetically to God.
