Taking place in La Ciénaga, the town where her debut feature was set, Martel’s film focuses on two teenage girls discovering their sexuality and an intense religious devotion at the same time. An incident during a medical conference at her mother’s hotel puts Amalia (Alche) on a mission of faith and discovery.

As this was made for US TV, the BFI requests a voluntary donation of £11.50 (Members pay £2 less) to assist with covering costs.
