A lonely, soon to be divorced professional letter writer falls for his computer's AI operating system. She may be artificial, but Samantha provides Theodore with the security and attention he craves for in a relationship, which grows in intimacy. Thought provoking and increasingly relevant, Jonze’s film offers pertinent questions regarding the growing presence of AI in our lives. Johansson is the perfect foil to Phoenix’s lover, her voice skilfully capturing a character whose emotional and intellectual state is rapidly expanding.

‘It's about falling in love with an AI, yet the film makes you feel so human in all its painful and blissful ways.’
