The American (political) way is satirised in Altman’s ensemble piece about a Florida health-foods convention.

Dir Robert Altman
With Lauren Bacall, James Garner, Glenda Jackson, Paul Dooley
One of Altman’s ensemble movies, this comedy deals with intrigue and rivalry at a Florida health-foods convention; the humour derives from how the American concern with physical well-being is inevitably linked to money, vanity and the desire for status and power. But the satire extends beyond the health-foods business to the political arena – it was intended for release prior to the US presidential elections.
