Harris was a reliable presence on US TV in the 1950s before becoming a major star of the big screen. The Haunting is a truly chilling take on the haunted-house genre, based on Shirley Jackson’s novel. It’s cited by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg as one of the scariest horror films ever made. Harris’ intense performance as the haunted woman at the centre of the piece is particularly memorable.
The screening of The Haunting on Wednesday 21 May 18:00 NFT1 will be introduced by writer, lecturer and producer Mo Moshaty.
