Bond fans flocked to Dr. No and From Russia With Love. But it was Goldfinger that saw cartoonish sexiness truly matched by a loudly swinging soundtrack. Barry slaved over the main title theme and was rewarded with Shirley Bassey’s earth-shattering delivery. He labelled his Bond scores ‘million-dollar Mickey Mouse music’, but it sure sounds like he had a lot of fun working on this.
