Do the Right Thing
Tensions escalate fast one hot Brooklyn summer in Spike Lee’s seminal joint.
Dir Spike Lee
With Danny Aiello, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee
A Park Circus Release
Do the Right Thing is a gripping and relevant tale of racial tension in Brooklyn, with Spike Lee playing Mookie, a delivery man who works for Sal (Aiello), the long-standing owner of an Italian restaurant in a largely African-American neighbourhood. What starts as a spat in the restaurant soon escalates into a tragic event that touches the whole community. Despite being 30 years old, Lee’s film is as astute, funny, moving and thought-provoking as it was upon release, and features great performances across the board.
