Amid the languid pace of a small town, the lives of a terminally ill photographer and a young parking-enforcement officer become intertwined. Their chance encounter during a sweltering summer leads to an unexpected romance. Drawing inspiration from Yasujirō Ozu’s legacy, Hur Jin-ho skilfully sidesteps the melodramatic excesses often associated with Korean cinema, delicately examining life, death and love through a humanistic lens, and evoking profound emotions with simplicity and grace.
