With Lissy Arna, Jack Trevor, Louise Woldera

This superbly realised action film, set during the Napoleonic Wars, centres on a family divided by politics. While the son, a staunch Prussian, is horrified by his father’s treacherous support for the French, he equally condemns the local patriots’ mindless spirit of revenge. The ‘Prussian film’ was a conservative genre, but Lamprecht’s take is intriguingly nuanced – a fascinating rediscovery.

Live piano accompaniment by Stephen Horne (4 Jun) and Cyrus Gabrysch (13 Jun).
