A colourful cult comedy focusing on a day in the life of a group of friends working at an LA car wash.
Dir Michael Schultz
With Richard Pryor, Clarence Muse, Antonio Fargas, The Pointer Sisters
Penned by Joel Schumacher and helmed by Michael Schultz, an underappreciated African American pioneer director, this colourful cult comedy focuses on a day in the life of a group of friends working at an LA car wash. The team meet dozens of eccentric customers, including a smoothtalking preacher (Pryor) and a wacky cab driver (George Carlin), yet the standout performer is Fargas as the cross-dressing Lindy: ‘I’m more man than you’ll ever be and more woman than you’ll ever get!’
The screening on Fri 21 May will be introduced by director Gurinder Chadha.
These screenings will be Digital as the 35mm print we had planned to screen is now too colour faded.
