Is there a subgenre that lends itself more to audience discomfort than body horror? This boundary-pushing double-bill pays homage to David Cronenberg, and the exciting filmmaker following in his path of unease, Palme d’Or winner Julia Ducournau. Both these films shock, but they also sink their teeth into sexual desires and identity while exploring bodily transformation. In Crash, following a nasty collision a man finds himself drawn into community that fetishises car crashes. While in Titane, a dancer finds herself on a bizarre, unpredictable journey after an intimate encounter with a vehicle.

Content warning: Contains scenes of strong violence, gore and sex. Titane contains flashing images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
