A Blonde in Love (aka Loves of a Blonde)
Lásky jedné plavovlásky
A glorious example of Czech New Wave cinema, hugely admired by Mike Leigh.
Czech Republic 1965
Dir Miloš Forman
With Josef Sebánek, Antonin Blazejovsky, Milada Jezková
Many of us were inspired by the Czech New Wave cinema, most especially by this seminal study of working-class life. Forman shot entirely on location in a documentary style, with a mixed cast of actors and non-professionals, and involving substantial improvisation, and he tells his story without sentimentality, and with irrepressible wit. Love and dreams. Youth and growing old. And sex. Glorious.
