The maestro of the extreme, Takashi Miike, returns with a bloodsoaked samurai epic that screened at the BFI London Film Festival. Based on the manga by Hiroaki Samura, the film follows Manji (Kimura), a talented samurai cursed with immortality and seeking revenge for the murder of his sister. In his mission to fight evil, he vows to aid young orphan girl Rin (Sugisaki), whose parents were murdered by a group of ruthless warriors. Delightfully over-the-top and action-packed, Miike’s 100th film is a characteristically wild and thrilling watch.
