While delivering a package for a hospital patient, a respectable woman becomes embroiled in murder. This grim and grimy melodrama, set in the world of blackmail, garnered Zetterling some excellent reviews, playing a wife bullied by her hypochondriac husband (a compelling Michael Gough). Newcomer Joan Rice also made an impressive debut as the girlfriend of Bogarde’s blackmail victim.
