Set in 1941, Barton Fink focuses on a New York playwright who is brought to LA by Capital Studios to write scripts. He hides himself away in his hotel room, nursing a serious case of writer’s block, and tries to write a B-movie script that will engage with his target audience: ‘the common man.’ This darkly comic take on the industry is both biting and unsettling at the same time.
