A famous Parisian chef comes to work for two elderly sisters in this warm and witty film.
Dir Gabriel Axel
With Stéphane Audran, Bodil Kjer, Birgitte Federspiel
Brilliantly relocating Isak Dinesen’s story to the bleak Jutland coast of the 1870s, Axel’s film explores the unlikely causes and miraculous consequences of a famous Parisian chef (Audran) coming to work for two elderly sisters living in an ascetically religious hamlet. A warm, witty and wise tale of lost love, self-sacrifice and redemptive grace, performed to perfection by a terrific cast.
The screening on Wednesday 5 July will be introduced by Geoff Andrew, Programmer-at-large.
