Casim, a DJ with a dream of opening his own club, and secondary school teacher Roisin both live in Glasgow and unexpectedly find themselves drawn together after a chance encounter. Their chemistry is immediate, but a major issue blocks their chance of happiness; he is a Muslim of Pakistani heritage with an arranged marriage on the horizon, and she is an Irish Catholic. Ken Loach and writing partner Paul Laverty create a compelling and upbeat tale of love across a major divide, which raises vital questions about discrimination and cultural difference.
