Adapted from Ira Levin’s novel, Roman Polanski’s psychological thriller centres on a pregnant young woman (Mia Farrow), recently moved into a New York apartment, who comes to harbour sinister suspicions about her neighbours and her husband (John Cassavetes). The famous Dakota building - home to many movie stars over the years - makes a fitting venue for the protagonist’s diabolical anxieties.
