A photojournalist travels to a remote island off the New Hampshire coast to research the murders of Norwegian immigrants in the late 1800s. As she digs deeper into the story, she finds her own life paralleling that of a witness to the crime. In this sumptuous, emotionally resonant and piercingly intelligent adaption of Anita Shreve’s acclaimed novel, Bigelow (whose own mother immigrated to America from Norway) fluidly interweaves parallel stories of jealousy and repressed passions.
Please note that the print we are using has French subtitles included, but the film is in English.
