We Crip Film Festival
Saturday 18 to Sunday 19 July
We Crip Film Festival is back for its second edition, showcasing a weekend of disability filmmaking during Disability Pride Month.
We Crip Film is the BFI’s intersectional disability advocacy group with the ethos of ‘Nothing About Us Without Us’ at its core. The festival is an expression of disabled resistance and joy, as we celebrate disability screen stories and talent. It’s also a time for our community to reflect on the state of disability representation within the screen industries and the ableism that persists. Join us for a series of feature films, short films and talks from the disability community, reclaiming our space and championing our strength, creativity and ingenuity.
We Crip Film Festival 2026 is co-curated by Charlie Little and Tara Brown
Opening Night: UK Festival Premiere: Joybubbles + pre-recorded intro from Rachael J. Morrison
A blind hacker genius creates a new subculture and chooses child-like wonder in this astounding documentary.
European Festival Premiere: Lone Wolves + pre-recorded intro from writer and actor Matt Foss
In this knockout indie comedy, an impeccably planned DIY self-insemination operation between old friends causes more than one kind of discharge.
Shorts Programme: It’s Not You, It’s Ableism + Q&A
This short film showcase is a vibrant and eclectic collection of disability stories and filmmaking.
Closing Night: World Premiere: D-Punk + panel discussion
A raw, defiant documentary where punk and disability collide – challenging norms, reclaiming space, and rewriting who gets to be seen and heard.
