Acclaimed filmmaker Cheryl Dunye takes centre stage in this ode to love, community and the past, in a film that recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. Touching on the complexities of interracial queer relationships, and revealing much about Dunye’s own motivations, The Watermelon Woman follows a filmmaker as she gradually uncovers the truth behind an actor whose story seems to resonate with her own life.
Please note, this is a restored version of the film which has a runtime of 84min and not 90min as per the guide.
