‘She’s dead. Wrapped in plastic.’ These words began the mystery that would gain Lynch and co-creator Mark Frost’s series a devoted following. This pilot episode sees beloved characters introduced, along with FBI Agent Dale Cooper’s appreciation for black coffee, cherry pie and Douglas Firs. An often-moving portrait of grief, it remains a high point in television drama from the last four decades. Following its success at the recent Film on Film festival, we repeat this screening of the pristine 35mm print used for the BBC broadcast.
As this was made for US TV, this screening is free. However, the BFI requests a voluntary donation of £17, concessions £14 (Members pay £2.50 less) to assist with covering costs.
Waterloo Bridge (near BFI Southbank) will be closed on 7 June Sunday between 7am and 7pm. BFI Southbank will be closed Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 June due to a private event.
