Concessions for anyone over 60 or with a valid student card

We offer concessions for all evening and weekend shows, excluding big screen classics. We don’t offer concessions on weekday matinees or family screenings.

£4 tickets if you’re 25 and under

We offer £4 tickets to all standard screenings booked in advance if you’re aged 25 and under (subject to availability). To book, sign up for free first.

£4 tickets as part of the Universal Credit Ticket Scheme

If you get Universal Credit, Pension Credit or Jobseekers allowance, we offer £4 tickets for standard screenings booked in advance, and on-the-day tickets for special events and previews – subject to availability.

Sign up at the box office before you book and bring two documents to confirm you’re eligible:

  • a letter, dated within the last 3 months, from HMRC or the Department of Work and Pensions
  • another form of ID, like your passport or driving license

After you’ve signed up, you can log in and book £4 tickets online, any time. After one year, we’ll ask you to confirm you’re still eligible at the box office. See terms and conditions.

Refunds and exchanges

We don’t offer refunds or exchanges for any BFI Southbank or BFI festival tickets, whether you’re a member or not.

Members can return BFI Southbank tickets for member credit

Return any paid tickets to the box office to get member credit of the same value. This excludes festival tickets and free member tickets. The deadline for returns is any time until the box offices closes, the day before your showing. We don’t accept returns after this point.

Your credit is valid for 12 months or until your memberships ends – whichever comes first. Use this as full or part payment towards other BFI Southbank or BFI festival tickets when you book in person or on the phone (online bookings excluded).

Information on age restrictions and film times

Age restrictions

For films with a BBFC certificate, like 12A, 15 or 18, we cannot admit anyone under the certificate age. We might ask you for photo ID showing your date of birth, like a driving license, passport, or a copy of the original document. Legally we cannot accept verbal confirmation of your age, from you or anyone with you.

Film times and trailers

Films start at the advertised time – we might show a few age-appropriate adverts and trailers for about 5 minutes before this.

If you’re running late, we reserve the right not to admit you. You cannot buy tickets after the film starts, but if you’ve pre-booked our team will do their best to seat you. This might not be in the seats you originally booked, so we don’t disturb other visitors.

General terms

We’re proud of the vibrant film culture we create together with our audiences. To make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience, you must be seated and put your phone away during the film.

You cannot record, film or take photographs during the screening.

At all times, we also reserve the right to:

  • ask you for ID to show your age
  • change film times without notice due to unavoidable circumstances
  • change fees and ticket prices
  • refuse admission or remove your BFI membership in exceptional cases

Tickets cannot be resold for higher than 20% of the original purchase price.

Thanks for your understanding and we hope you enjoy your visit to BFI Southbank.
