Retreating to Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont Hotel with a severe bout of ennui, a famous actor is surprised by the arrival of his estranged, ebullient 11-year-old daughter. The visit soon finds him reassessing his hedonistic and emotionally empty life. Oscar-winning writer-director Sofia Coppola uses hotel locations in the USA and Italy to deliver a moving portrait of a father-daughter relationship, and an investigation into fame and loneliness.
