Sins of the Fleshapoids + George Kuchar: The Comedy of the Underground
Shot in a cramped apartment, soundtracked with a drop-needle orchestral score and featuring costumes made from paper, Mike Kuchar’s film makes the post-apocalyptic future look positively splendid.
We are pleased to announce that we will also be screening George Kuchar: The Comedy of the Underground after Sins of the Fleshapoids.
Total running time of the programme is 103min.

One million years into the future, human-looking androids known as Fleshapoids break into revolt when their masters become too lazy to service their needs and desires. A whole other universe is uncovered in Mike Kuchar’s status quo-busting, new-love seeking, unbounded, camp, sci-fi, midnight movie success. John Waters said of the film, it ‘really shows what an underground movie was’.

George Kuchar’s life, home and collection of unusual artefacts all feature in a 1983 documentary that comprehensively demonstrates the kitsch, hilarious, unclassifiable nature of his work and lens on life, also with appearances from his brother Mike.
