Much admired on the festival circuit, this bold, shocking and unconventional work from filmmaker, novelist and poet Guo boasts a lively rock soundtrack from John Parish (collaborator with Eels and PJ Harvey). It follows the story of a young woman as she journeys from a remote Chinese village to London to realise the Western consumer dream. This dramatic and startling move across the world highlights similarities between the two places when seen from the viewpoint of the dispossessed.
Chris Berry, Kings College, will welcome director Guo Xiaolu to the screening.
